Chin revision, or genioplasty, is a cosmetic facial procedure that works to enhance, improve and correct defects in the chin. Chin revisions may be recommended to increase or decrease the size of your chin and are often performed in combination with other facial cosmetic procedures, such as facelifts, brow lifts and eyelid surgery. Most chin revisions are simple outpatient procedures; patients that receive them can return home the same day as their appointment.

For chin revisions that decrease the size of your chin, our oral and maxillofacial surgeon will reposition the chin button, or “chin bone” that sticks out. We may also remove a wedge from the chin button to enhance its appearance. If you wish to increase your chin size, our oral and maxillofacial surgeon may recommend one of several procedures, such as moving the chin button forward or inserting an implant to augment the size of your chin. As chin implants vary in size and design, we will work with you to select the model that will produce the look you are hoping for.
