Protruding or over-large ears can be a source of embarrassment and weaken self-confidence, regardless of age. Our skilled team offers otoplasty, or cosmetic ear revision, to improve the appearance of your ears and enhance your overall appearance.
Otoplasty can be performed on patients of all ages. In fact, children are often excellent candidates for otoplasty, as they are still, growing and their cartilage is more moldable and flexible than that of adults.
When you receive a cosmetic ear revision, our oral and maxillofacial surgeon will begin by making an incision in the fold where the ear attaches to the head. We will then reshape or remove the cartilage in the area until we achieve and establish the look you desire. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeon will finish by placing permanent sutures at the site to hold the cartilage in its corrected position.
You may experience some discomfort for a few days following your procedure. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeon will apply soft bandages and a dressing to protect your ears, which you must wear for several days. You will not be able to sleep on your side for about a week. We will also provide other post-operative instructions to help protect your ears and produce successful results from your otoplasty procedure.
